A Time to Kill, by John Grisham

I think the author of , A Time to Kill, by John Grisham wrote the book to entertain, but  also show information about the judicial system and society. John Grisham explains the process of law throughout the story, and how it relates to the crime. John Grisham also explains how society views and judges certain people. One of the protagonist in the story is African American, and he is treated unfairly because of his color. It is a well written book, with great detail and diction. John Grisham is a good author at keeping the reader engaged and alert.

A real life issue in, A Time to Kill, by John Grisham is the topic of racism. One of the protagonist, Carl Lee Hailey, is African American, and he is treated unfairly because of his color. He committed a crime in Mississippi, a very diverse state. The people of Mississippi have very strong feelings against African Americans. Carl Lee Hailey was being judged and unfairly treated, because of his skin color. Racism is still a very big problem today, and it's sad it still exists and tales place today.

A Time to Kill, by John Grisham

I was interested in the book, A Time to Kill, by John Grisham because I like to read mystery or crime books. Goodreads.com and other people recommended the author John Grisham. I did some research on John Grisham and found, A Time to Kill, was the first book of the series. I really enjoy the book it's about crime and law. I plan to continue reading this series by John Grisham. I would recommend this book and this author if you are interested in mystery, law, or crime books at all.

While reading the book, A Time to Kill, by John Grisham I have leaned many new concepts about law. John Grisham shows you both sides of the law. He shows viewpoints of the criminals, and he also shows viewpoints of the law. John Grisham explains how the court system works during trials. It is interesting how the process of a criminal getting arrested, to going to jail or being acquitted. John Grisham is a great author, and has many books for you to read if you are interested in mystery and crime.

Who's your favorite current author, and why are they your favorite?

A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier, by Ishmael Bea

My summer reading book was, A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier, by Ishmael Beah. I think the author wrote this book to share what the lives of many Africans are like. He talked about his life as a boy in the middle of a war. There were rebels going against the government, and they killed innocent people. The country of Sierra Leone always lived in fear; with little food and clean water, and a lot of warfare taking place. Ishmael, the author and protagonist, was forced to join the army for the government, at a young age. His book shows how he and the people of Sierra Leone got through and survied the civil wars.

The real life issues in the book  that are present today, are the civil wars in Africa. Africa is made up of many countries, and in some of the countries, many people don't agree with their government. The people start civil wars of the poeple vs. the government. This is becoming a big problem for many countries. These wars start, usually because the government doesn't give people all the rights they want. The author feels these are big issues, because he has experienced this first hand. He has seen his country break to piceces, and looses everything he has, including his family. Ishmael Beah, the author of A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier, strongly disagrees with the civil wars, and wants to bring an end to them.
